Eligibility & Academic Requirements

• Must be regularly enrolled at USMT in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral program.
• Maintain a standard course load (typically 30 ECTS credits per semester).
• Minimum linguistic proficiency approved by the University Intensive Language Center (CEIL): English at least B2 (or B1 depending on the partner institution agreement).
• Priority is given to first-time applicants. Maximum duration per study cycle cannot exceed 12 months.

Support & Recognition

• Academic Recognition: USMT applies the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Credits successfully obtained abroad are fully recognized and automatically transferred upon return, based on the Learning Agreement and Transcript of Records.
• Inclusion & Support: Dedicated assistance for visa procurement, insurance guidance, and housing is coordinated by the Erasmus+ & International Relations Office (IRO).

2. Selection Process & Guidelines

In compliance with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and Inter-Institutional Agreements (IIAs), the selection process follows strict standards.

Mobility Types

• Teaching Mobility (STA): Enables academic staff to teach at a partner university abroad (minimum requirement: 8 teaching hours per week).
• Training Mobility (STT): Enables academic and administrative staff to undertake professional development training, job shadowing, or participate in International Staff Training Weeks.

Application & Selection Prerequisites

• Must be a member of the academic or administrative staff of USMT.
• Submission of a Staff Mobility Agreement (Teaching or Training), verified by the Erasmus+ & International Relations Office (IRO) and signed by the Vice-Rector in charge of External Relations at USMT and the host institution.
• Transparent and merit-based selection managed by the university committee headed by the Vice-Rectorate of External Relations, IRO, academic coordinators, and faculty representatives.

• The University of Saïda Dr. Moulay Tahar (USMT) actively collaborates with international higher education institutions through structured bilateral agreements under the Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility framework. Our partnerships cover multiple disciplinary fields including Sciences, Technology, Economics, Law, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

2. Faculties & Course Catalogue

• Faculties: USMT comprises eight (08) faculties grouping twenty-five departments, covering Natural & Life Sciences, Mathematics & Computer Science, Sciences & Technology, Law & Political Science, Economics & Management, Letters, Languages & Arts, Social Sciences & Humanities and Medicine.
• Course Catalogue: Detailed study programs and course offerings aligned with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) are available via the academic structures of each faculty.

3. Recommended Language Skills

• Languages of Instruction: Arabic, French, and English.
• Student Mobility: Minimum recommended level is B1 in at least one language of instruction.
• Staff Mobility: Minimum recommended level for teaching/training is B2.

4. Outreach, Calendar, Application Procedure & Requirements

Academic Calendar & Deadlines:

• Winter Term: September to January (Nomination / Application deadline: July 1st).
• Spring Term: February to June (Nomination / Application deadline: November 1st).

Application Procedure & Requirements:

• Completed student or staff application forms submitted via the home institution.
• Required documents include a CV, motivation letter, academic transcripts (minimum 60 ECTS completed for students), and a language proficiency certificate.
• Staff mobilities require a proposed teaching program (min. 8 hours/week for STA) or training plan.

5. Preparation and Support

• Visa & Insurance: Dedicated assistance regarding visa procurement and insurance guidance is coordinated by the Erasmus+ & International Relations Office (IRO).
• Accommodation & Integration: USMT provides on-campus student dormitories and offers assistance to incoming academic and administrative staff in arranging accommodation in Saïda. The university also provides access to campus-wide internet, library services, and sports facilities.
• Language Support: Intensive linguistic training in English, French, and Arabic is provided by the University Intensive Language Center (CEIL).

6. Institutional Grading System

• Grading Scale: USMT uses a numerical integer scale from 0 to 20 (passing grade is ≥ 10/20).

ECTS Translation:

• 1 full academic year = 60 ECTS credits.
• 1 semester = 30 ECTS credits.
• 1 ECTS credit corresponds to 30 hours of total student workload (lectures, seminars, homework).
