November 1st, 1954 – November 1st, 2026
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; and may peace and blessings be upon the most noble of all messengers.
Esteemed members of the university community—professors, researchers, staff, and students— Loyal citizens of Algeria,
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
As we commemorate the seventy-second anniversary of the outbreak of our glorious Liberation Revolution—which began on the first of November, 1954—I would like to express my deepest appreciation and pride to you all. Together, we recall that immortal historical milestone, which served as a decisive turning point in the history of our nation—a moment when the Algerian people chose the path of freedom and dignity, declaring to the world their steadfast resolve to reclaim their sovereignty and build an independent state.
The first of November is not merely a date to be recalled within our national memory; it is a symbol of sacrifice, determination, and unity—a pledge renewed from one generation to the next. On this glorious day, a revolution was launched by a people who believed in their right to freedom—a people who offered up legions of martyrs and mujahideen (freedom fighters) who, with their own blood, inscribed the most magnificent chapters of heroism and self-sacrifice. As we reflect upon their sacrifices, we bow in reverence and profound respect to the souls of our noble martyrs, and we pray for those who gave everything—sacrificing all that was precious and dear—so that Algeria might live free and independent.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Remaining faithful to the message of November is not limited to recalling the glories of the past or celebrating the heroism of the men and women of that era; rather, it is fundamentally embodied in our willingness to shoulder our responsibilities toward the present and the future—each of us from our own position and within our respective field of endeavor. In this context, the Algerian university bears a historical and civilizational responsibility to continue the journey of nation-building. This is achieved by educating qualified generations, instilling the values of citizenship and commitment, fostering scientific research and innovation, and contributing to sustainable development. The university is not merely a space for academic attainment; it is also a hub for cultivating awareness, generating knowledge, and preparing the skilled individuals capable of meeting Algeria’s future challenges.
While the mission of our forebears was the liberation of our land and our people, our responsibility today is to safeguard our independence, unleash our potential, build a knowledge-based economy, and elevate Algeria’s standing through science, hard work, and creativity. This can only be realized through the concerted efforts of all segments of society, guided by a spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and sincere dedication to the service of the nation.
To our esteemed professors, researchers, staff, and students:
Every sincere effort in fulfilling one’s duty, every piece of scientific research that opens new horizons, every innovative idea, and every student striving for excellence—each serves as a building block for the Algeria envisioned by our martyrs. Let us draw upon the values of November as a catalyst for greater contribution, diligence, and excellence. Let us transform our university into an institution that generates knowledge, engages actively with its environment, and contributes to the renaissance of our homeland.
In conclusion, we renew our pledge to honor the sacrifices of our noble martyrs, to uphold the values of our glorious revolution, and to work with sincerity toward an Algeria that is secure, prosperous, advanced, and strengthened by the knowledge of its people and the unity of its nation.
Glory and immortality to our noble martyrs.
Long live Algeria—free, proud, and standing tall.
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
