Under the Prince Abdelkader Programme, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OXCIS) opens applications for the Algerian Visiting Research Fellowship for the 2026-2027 academic year. It is aimed at academics and post-doctoral researchers based in Algeria whose work relates to Islam and the Muslim world. The fellowship includes a £10,000 grant, travel reimbursement and accommodation within the Centre.
About the fellowship
The Algerian Visiting Research Fellowship is part of the Prince Abdelkader Programme, launched following an agreement signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies on 12 June 2026. It targets Algerian academics and post-doctoral researchers based in Algeria whose work, across various disciplines, relates to Islam and the Muslim world. The residency takes place entirely in Oxford, outside university vacation periods.
